This photo was taken on the ground floor of Quintessa Winery in Napa Valley. Quintessa has spent millions of dollars building a state of the art winery and they spent as much time and money on the architecture as they did on the wine making equipment. It reminds me a little bit of Opus One’s winery. To some winemakers it is probably overbearing and self indulgent but it is something beautiful to see. Their wines are pretty good as well. If you ever get a chance to take a tour of the winery and vineyards they have a lovely lake and island up in back behind the winery. I attended a picnic on this lake once which was quite nice.
I took this photo walking down Powell Street as it meets Market Street on a rainy night.
This photo was taken from the Presidential Suite at the Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill. Apparantly before becoming the presidential suite, this apartment served as the private residence for the Swig family. Pretty amazing suite complete with a billard room, a few bedrooms, oppulent bathrooms, a private elevator, a dining room and the most amazing deck from where this picture was taken.
If you have not walked around inside City Hall in San Francisco before it’s definately something worth doing. I had an hour to kill one day and took the plunge through the metal detector and did a little exploring.
This photo was taken in the early morning hours in Florence, Italy. One of my favorite things to do is to walk city streets alone particularly in the early morning or late night hours and take pictures. I find the time so peaceful.
This is the Starbucks right outside of 50 California St.
This is a shot of a cable car coming up Powell Street at night.
Filoli Gardens is perhaps the most spectacular garden in the Bay Area. The garden is on an old converted estate in Woodside.
This is one of those beautiful old streets in Florence.
This photo is of friends sitting around a large campfire out in the countryside in Chianti after many bottles of wine.
This is an Italian Toy Store in Siena Italy.
A view of the rooftops of Florence. This picture was taken from the Campinale in the center of Florence.
This is a picture of St. Peters and Paul Chuch in San Francisco in North Beach. This is the church where Joe Dimagio married Marilyn Monroe.
This is the inscription on the South face of Old Saint Mary’s Chuch. Allegedly this inscription was aimed at the gambling houses and brothels down below. In 1854 this was the largest building in California. It is on the corner of Grant and California.
This is a picture of a Victorian on California St.
Looking down Kearny Street from California.
This is a photograph looking up at the Russ Building on Montgomery Street in San Francisco.
Mary Lou Lord has an unbelieveably dreamy voice. This picture is from a 12 Galaxies show on March 12, 2004.
This photo was taken from one of the most wonderful hotels in the world, Villa San Michelle in Fiesole Italy just outside of Florence. The views of Florence are spectacular and if you ever find yourself there it is a wonderful place for dinner.
This picture was taken leaving SFO for Italy.
A reinterpretation of the Castillo di Spaltenna in the Chianti region of Italy.
Shadow and I like to go out running in the field together. He’s a lot of fun.
This is part of the inside back of a sculpture of a face in Boboli Gardens at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence Italy.
I took this picture outside of the Ferry Buiding in San Francisco on a very rainy morning.
This was originally a photograph looking up Market Street in San Francisco.
This is from a storefront window in Florence.
If you can somehow make it to the top of the top tower on the Castillo di Brolio you are rewarded with a remarkable view of both the castle as well as Chianti.
This is a picture of the tasting room at Brolio Winery just outside of Castillo di Brolio in Chianti.
