Google Won’t Talk to CNET for a Year

Digital Media Experience: Google’s Chief Is Googled, to the Company’s Displeasure Apparently Google is upset that CNET published personal information about their CEO that they gleaned by Google searching him.

“CNETNews.com, a technology news Web site, said last week that Google had told it that the company would not answer any questions from CNET’s reporters until July 2006. The move came after CNET published an article last month that discussed how the Google search engine can uncover personal information and that raised questions about what information Google collects about its users.”

Something just doesn’t sit right about this.

An Interview with Flickr’s Eric Costello

adaptive path ? an interview with flickr’s eric costello: An interview with Flickr’s Eric Costello on the past, present and future of the company.

“I think the spirit of it is there, definitely. Someone once described Flickr as “massively multiplayer online photo sharing.” I think that’s a good description. There’s kind of a feeling of exploration within Flickr. It feels like a world where you can move around and find wonderful things – the wonderful things being the great photographs that people upload.

And because it’s got the social network aspect of it, you can kind of build neighborhoods within Flickr. The page in Flickr that shows you all the photos from your friends and family is very much a space like you might find in a game. It’s a place where you go and interact with the people you know.”

21 Ice Cream Cones

21 Ice Cream Cones This photograph is dedicated to RoudyBob. www.flickr.com/photos/roudybob/

Bob Roudebush, who I’d never met, was the guy who got me started on all of this Flickr madness by upgrading me to a free pro account last April. Although I’d tried Flickr before it wasn’t until this upgrade that I really began to realize the potential that Flickr had to offer.

Thanks Bob. I had no idea I’d enjoy it this much.

Pet Rooster

Pet Rooster The craziest thing today. While running around downtown taking photos after work I went through the park that is next to Embarcadero Three and found a rooster running around loose. The guy seemed friendly enough so I assumed he was somebody’s pet but no one around wanted to claim him. Instead of running from me when I’d get down low and try to get in his face to shoot him he’d come charging at me. I’d have to back off to get my shots. My shooting a loose rooster in a downtown park was a sight. As I left the park someone asked me could I believe that a rooster was running around wild downtown. I told him he should have seen the goat that was there earlier. Weird.

If you’re missing a pet rooster he may be running around Embarcadero Three somewhere.
