Watched Zach Braff’s Garden State this past weekend. A well written and acted film about disaffection, growing up and the modern human condition. The composition and arrangement of so many of the scenes were so aesthetically and visually beautiful. I found myself taking hundreds of photos in my mind’s eye while watching the film. The firm also has a first rate soundtrack which it won a Grammy for as best compilation. I felt like I was listening to my own 5 Star rated WMP list at times.
The main song in the film is an old favorite, The Shins, “New Slang.” Check out a live version of the song from ABC in the video above.
One of my all time fav songs, but they really are one of the most boring bands live.
Between this movie and Lost in Translation, it’s a constant toss up. I’ll always settle with the latter, but Garden State always shines as the perfect mixer.
