Update: Scott Beale has his wrap up post on the event here. Lots of great stuff to see.

Had a great time last night hanging out at Scott Beale’s Laughing Squid 11th Anniversary Party at Mighty in San Francisco. For 11 years Scott has been the unofficial ambasador between the geek world and the art world and last a several hundred of his closest friends showed up to recognize the man who has so generously given of himself between his blog and his photography over all those years.

There was fire, and a photoboof, and dancers, and a burlesque show and DJs and bands and decorated cars and bikes and real steam engine and all of Scott’s very coolest friends.

Between Peronis I managed to take a few shots. I’ve still got several hundred shots to finish processing and get up, so if I shot you last night and you don’t see the shot yet hold tight. I hope to get more shots up in the next few days. And if you are in any of the shots that I took and are on Zooomr, please leave a comment on the photo or Zmail me so that I can people tag you. By the way, to see some shots I’ve taken of Scott over the past few years, click through here.

Thanks to Scott and thanks also to Lori who has been a great other half to the Laughing Squid world over all these years. I’m looking forward to the next decade of Laughing Squid. Congrats Scott, you’ve been a great Pal and last night really was a pretty amazing time.

As a special bonus shot. Click through here to see Zooomr’s new age progression technology where we age Chris Pirilo 10 years. Simply hover over the photo with your mouse in order to see the progression rendition.

  1. Love the “age progression technology”! What happened to Zooomr last night? Was it a case of “while the cat’s away, the mice will play” — with the mice being the servers?

  2. Hey Raoul, we had a glitch due to very high traffic volume. We weren’t aware it had gone offline until later that night and brought it back up. Kristopher put a system in place to auto restart it in the future in the event of an outage. Sorry about that.

  3. Thomas, the age progression technology doesn’t seem to do anything for me. Depending on where I hover the mouse, I sometimes get a marquee, but no change in the pic.

  5. Thomas am I just an idiot or is there no slideshow view in zooomr? If you haven’t put one in yet look at Picasa’s full screen view as a model over flickr’s tiny box.

  6. No slideshow view for Zooomr yet but hold tight. You can click on the little polaroid icon on the left corner of thumbnail photos to get a great lightbox view. We’ve got something coming up with slideshows though in the future.
