Federated Media/Tech Recently I’ve reported here about a new association with Federated Media and have been excited about watching Federated Media grow. FM is responsible for the two advertisements presently on my site, but they offer a lot more than just finding bloggers ads. FM is currently helping me to refine my site which will incorporate design changes and a move to a better publishing platform in the near future.
As part of the analysis of my site, FM has helped me put together a survey that many of you were helpful enough to take over the course of the past few weeks.
I wanted to share with the readers of this site some of the key results of this demographics study.
First off, the top age bracket of thomashawk.com readers are those in the 30-39 category (37.6%), followed by 18-29 (26.4%), and then 40-49 (13.1%). The lowest age category was 60 and over where I’ve got 0% readership.
79.6% of you are male and 19.1% female. I’d like to figure out a way to boost my female readership but this data is not inconsistent with other data I’ve seen on tech blogs. If you’re female and have suggestions for the site let me know.
The vast majority of readers are from the U.S. (71.1%)
The top ranked household income demographic are those in the $100,000 to $150,000 income catagory (21.8%) followed by $50,000 to $75,000 (15.7%).
The majority of readers do not have children (64.6%).
The top 4 readership by industries includes: computer professional (30.8%), sales, marketing or PR professional (11.4%), student (10.2%), engineer (9.5%).
In other news with FM they have now started a group blog of the various bloggers in their network where they will highlight some of the top stories in the network during the week called tech.federated media. You can subscribe to the RSS feed here.
In other news JP Morgan Partners have joined FM’s existing investors (the Omidyar Network, the New York Times, and several angels) as the new lead investor in the blog network. Congratulations John to you and your team. Chris Albinson, a partner at JPMP, has joined the FM board.
If you are interested in possibly joining FM Publishing as an author or blogger you can contact Bill Brazell at bill@fmpub.net. If you are an advertiser and would like to advertise on my site or on other sites in the network you can contact Chas Edwards at chas@fmpub.net.
