Lichtenstein’s at the MOMA. Too bad I can’t bring my camera in the MOMA. Looks like I’ll be missing that exhibition.

Vincenzo is a wine and food tasting held each year in San Rafael that benefits the St. Vincent’s School for Boys — a boys home for troubled youth. Every year it is beautiful and a wonderful day of wine tasting and great food. I’ve been going for the past few years and had the opportunity once again last Sunday. If you can make it in 2005 it’s definately worth checking out.

Wired 12.10: Point. Shoot. Kiss It Good-Bye.

Wired 12.10: Point. Shoot. Kiss It Good-Bye. A fantastic story in Wired magazine that identifies the current problems and issues around metatagging digital images. As my collection at present has grown to over 40,000 .jpg images I’ve been increasingly concerned about the best way to tag and organize these images for search.

The other problem is that I’m not sure of an easy way to do meta data search using Windows XP as it currently stands. Hopefully Longhorn will produce more ways to search metadata at much faster speeds and easy and convenient ways to add and manage the meta data process.

Equally problematic is all of the scanning I’ve done of old family photographs. Identifying the individuals, dates, places has not been easy and as the family gets older and people die much of this rich history will be lost.

Setting up some kind of easy way to update and correctly archive and annotate family photographs is another area that I’m really interested in.

Wired News: Solution for Slashdot Effect?

Wired News: Solution for Slashdot Effect? I’ve had two links to my site on Slashdot in the past. On the first one I received about 3000 visits and on the second I received about 8,000 visits. Certainly this traffic was not unmanageable and so I wonder how necessary this solution really is? I’d be interested in hearing from others about their experiences and level of traffic when being posted to Slashdot and if the traffic was a problem. I wonder what the average number of hits a site receives when it is Slashdotted?
