Thanks to all who came out for our Photowalk in Sacramento on Friday night. We had about 40 or so people who showed up for a phenomonal night of shooting the Capital Building and the neon signs around downtown Sacramento.
We had pretty much perfect weather. Just enough rain to wet the ground for us to get those awesome neon puddle reflections, but not enough rain to keep us from enjoying ourselves.
Thanks to Trevor Carpenter over at photowalking.org who helped organize the walk and thanks especially to Tom Spaulding who is pretty much the defacto neon historian of Sacramento.
I had a blast getting to know some more great photographers and learning a little more about the neon signs in Sacramento. After our shoot a few of us stopped off at Simon’s, this great little Chinese Food bar with as you’d expect, a great neon sign of its own.
In addition to the photowalk I spent about 30 hours non-stop shooting mostly neon in Sacramento. I came home with over 2,500 images. It’s going to take me a long time to get to processing and posting them all, but the photo at the top is just one of many that will be coming in the weeks and months ahead.
If you went on the photowalk please use the tag photowalking100308 for the photos that you upload to Flickr and Zooomr so that we can check them out!
Sounds like you guys had a great photowalk. When I heard about this one I considered heading south to join the group but it wasn’t in the cards this time. Can’t wait to see the rest of the material as it’s posted.
Had a great time as well! Can’t wait to process mine, see yours and others. Hope we get a chance to walk this week…
So far, the shots look really good. I wish I’d gone, hopefully next time.
Thomas,
Once again, I’ve been inspired by one of your side projects. Last night a few of us scoured downtown San Jose for neon signs. We’ll go back another night… there’s plenty more that we didn’t get yet.
