First Day With the New Canon 14mm Ultra Wide Angle Prime Lens

Just got my Canon 14mm prime lens on Friday. Went by this old favorite spot to shoot it with the new ultra wide angle. I think I’m really going to like this lens. After I’ve shot with it for a few weeks I’ll write up a review on it.

I’ve been considering a wider prime as my next lens purchase. I love my 50mm, but with the 1.6x conversion factor on the rebel xt I’m feeling a bit tunnel-visioned indoors.

This lens is great for wide angle architecture because it has no barrel distortion to speak of but IMHO, it’s too wide for most anything else.

I tried it and just couldn’t get it. But that could just be me. I don’t really like wide angle much. In fact the widest I typically like to shoot is a 35.

Brilliant image, a great way to start off with a new lens 🙂
