I Hate Blogger

I Hate BloggerI Hate Blogger Hosted on Zooomr

So on another post of mine two Thomas Hawk readers are complaining about only getting partial feeds in their RSS readers for my blog. But if you look at the screen shot above you will see that I’ve got my account at Blogger configured to provide full feeds, not partial feeds.

This is not the first time this has happened to me. I’ve had readers complain in the past about partial feeds and yet I’ve never told Blogger to publish anything but full feeds.

What’s worse though is that Blogger’s service is just crap. It was kind of getting better for a while but the past few weeks or so it’s just been awful. It’s been difficult to publish stuff (it acts like it’s publishing but just always says 0% uploaded) and although I think it might be fixed today for the past few weeks their auto password / blogger ID thing has not been working.

But here’s a place where technology sucks. I did try to transfer my blog to WordPress once but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. And then I’ve been told by others (perhaps erroneously but I’m not sure since I couldn’t figure it out) that it’s difficult to transfer both your blog and all of your existing comments over to WordPress.

So I guess I’m stuck with crappy Blogger for the time being still. What I really want is to have my blog at thomashawk.com on WordPress or Moveable Type and then have a nice photoblog at thomashawk.com/photoblog. Someday I’ll get this all set up.

In the meantime if you are getting partial feeds to my blog, sorry about that. I wish you were getting full feeds, it’s nothing intentional on my part.

Windows Media Player Beta 2 (for XP) Now Available for Download

Addicted to Digital Media – Windows Media Player Beta 2 (for XP) now available for download Sean posts about Windows Media Player Beta 2 (for XP) being available for download. I’m not ready to review the software yet because I’m still working out some issues with my library. I will say that Microsoft has been very responsive to some of my concerns that I’ve had with the player in the past and has been very helpful in trying to help me troubleshoot WMP11 so that it can be the best that it can for my digital library. Hopefully more on this soon.

The Future of Web Apps, September 13-14, Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco

The Future of Web AppsThe Future of Web Apps Hosted on Zooomr

Carson Workshops Summit – The Future of Web Apps Well it looks like I’ll be attending The Future of Web Apps conference this year along with my Zooomr boss Kristopher Tate. This should be a pretty interesting and informative conference and includes a lot of the heavyweights in the Web 2 dot whatever space. Kevin Rose from Digg is going to be speaking. TechCrunch’s Mike Arrington is going to be talking about “building tomorrow’s Flickr” (note to self, take notes). Cal Henderson is going to talk about “taking flickr from beta to gamma.” John Battelle will be there, Tantek Celik, Evan Williams, Tom Coates, Matt Mullenweg, and lots of others. People from Google and Yahoo! and Newsvine all there speaking.

I’m hoping that I’ll learn some things from the conference. I’ll definitely be blogging it and I’ll be shooting it as well. I’m normally not a conference guy, but this is one of the best line ups I’ve seen in a long time. I’ll be the guy getting in everyone’s face with a camera. If you see me say hello.

The price for the event is $295.
