House approves new digital-TV deadline | CNET Looks like February 17, 2009 is now the new date when the United States must make the transition to 100% digital. It looks like the government will spend about $1.5 billion to help analog consumers buy converter boxes. Previously the Senate had approved a $3 billion fund and had set the date as April 7, 2009.
