Song Lyrics In Windows Media Player

Everything went from bad to worse, money never changed a thing,
Death kept followin’, trackin’ us down, at least I heard your
bluebird sing.
Now somebody’s got to show their hand, time is an enemy,
I know you’re long gone,
I guess it must be up to me.

– Bob Dylan, Up to Me

The F-Stop Blues: Song Lyrics In Media Center Tim Coyle blogs about inserting song lyric metadata into your digital music files through Windows Media Player. Although I’ve never entered a song lyric (I’m still just trying to get meta data cleaned up and album art right) for my large digital library, this seems pretty cool.

I think it would be really great if All Music Guide (where the meta data is pulled from for Windows Media Player) started including lyric information. Of course you’d probably get the typical licensing fear and loathing push back that you’d expect from the RIAA, but it would be a very nice feature for the user. Even nicer would be the ability to add lyric search into the whole search bag that should be coming together nicely with indexing and 64 bit computing via Longhorn.
