State of The Blogosphere, March 2005, Part 1: Growth of Blogs

Sifry’s Alerts: State of The Blogosphere, March 2005, Part 1: Growth of Blogs Technorati’s Dave Sifry is out with his update on the state of the blogosphere. Technorati now trackes over 7.8 million blogs and they are seeing 30,000 to 40,000 new blogs created each day.

He attributes the growth to new mainstream service MSN Spaces and increased usage of Blogger, AOL Journals, and LiveJournal.

One thing I will say about Blogger is that they must be growing because the performance has been getting worse and worse over the past five months. I hope that they are going to be able to keep up with the technical side of things in the face of the growth they are experiencing.

It’s a pretty frustrating thing to have spent a long time writing something and then have an error when you try to publish it and when you click “back” wham it’s gone. It’s my own fault for not writing it in MS Word first but still, very frustrating.
