Powell Exits FCC Without a Successor

Powell Exits FCC Without a Successor Outgoing FCC Chair Michael Powell left the agency on Thursday. Although no new successor has been named, the Los Angeles Times reports that it will either come down to current Republican FCC Commissioner Kevin J. Martin or Michael D. Gallagher, assistant secretary for telecommunications in the Commerce Department.

Hopefully we will see a new FCC Chairman who champions technological progress and innovation and helps to politically remove the barriers that some private interests may errect to maintain their stranglehold on your entertainment and communications.

Thanks, Discfree.
