How Well Did TiVo Negotiate the Comcast Deal?

The New York Times is out with an article on the negotiations that took place to make the TiVo Comcast deal happen. According to the Times, the negotiations were spearheaded by by TiVo Vice Chair and former NBC television executive Tom Rogers and the Times is maintaining it’s story that the deal broke down last year under Ramsay’s oversight. Some have suggested that the terms may have been more one sided and that TiVo was negotiating from a position of at best weakness and at worst desperation. It will be interesting indeed to see how good this deal ultimately is for TiVo. Journalist Ed Bott, does some analysis on Rogers poor past track record at negotiating deals.
