Clueless newbie award, Scott Sassa of Friendster, Trout Girl, her husband, Tim Converse, Disclosure, Agenda and Anonymity in the Blogsphere

Clueless newbie award: Scott Sassa of Friendstervia Blogdex.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one because I definitely side with Troutgirl in the ongoing Troutgirl vs. Friendster drama that has been unfolding, but it appears that one of the most widely trafficked blogs on the subject yesterday, timconverse.com (which yesterday gave Friendster CEO Scott Sassa the “Clueless Newbie Award”) is actually run by Troutgirl’s husband.

Tim is called out on this in the comments section of his blog and proceeds to admit that he is Troutgirl’s husband but also seems to imply to there may be a secret hidden effort going on by Friendster to anonymously discredit him and Troutgirl in light of Friendster’s huge PR blunder yesterday. Converse asks for the poster to identify him/herself, which the poster has yet to do.

Not sure what all this means but it certainly raises many significant points on the blogosphere including privacy, agenda, anonymity and fair disclosure.

And the drama continues…

Today @ PC World – HDTV: The 1080p factor

http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/000171.html A discussion about the different HDTV formats out today. Mark Cuban over at HDNET would like for broadcasters and manufacturers to get together and offer the juice by way of the finest picture quality available today — but there is some question as to whether or not this will happen.

As for my personal situation, I’m using a Pioneer 43″ Plasma which I believe is at 720p that I bought from Costco and it looks simply amazing. I can’t imagine the picture quality getting much better. At this point I’m not sure any incremental gain at 1080i or 1080p would really make that much difference.

Neowin.net – Windows WMP 10 Out on Thursday

Neowin.net – Where unprofessional journalism looks better – MSN Music Store & WMP10 due 2nd September Neowin is reporting that WMP 10 will be officially released on Thursday. I hope it’s true. Having used the WMP 10 technical beta for a few months I have to remark on how incredibly stable this product was for a beta. The only bug still to work out is the sloooooowwwwww access of large media libraries. I’m hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised on Thursday but somehow I doubt it.
