Quintessa

This photo was taken on the ground floor of Quintessa Winery in Napa Valley. Quintessa has spent millions of dollars building a state of the art winery and they spent as much time and money on the architecture as they did on the wine making equipment. It reminds me a little bit of Opus One’s winery. To some winemakers it is probably overbearing and self indulgent but it is something beautiful to see. Their wines are pretty good as well. If you ever get a chance to take a tour of the winery and vineyards they have a lovely lake and island up in back behind the winery. I attended a picnic on this lake once which was quite nice.

Tales of the City

This photo was taken from the Presidential Suite at the Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill. Apparantly before becoming the presidential suite, this apartment served as the private residence for the Swig family. Pretty amazing suite complete with a billard room, a few bedrooms, oppulent bathrooms, a private elevator, a dining room and the most amazing deck from where this picture was taken.

alone for once

This photo was taken in the early morning hours in Florence, Italy. One of my favorite things to do is to walk city streets alone particularly in the early morning or late night hours and take pictures. I find the time so peaceful.

City Hall

If you have not walked around inside City Hall in San Francisco before it’s definately something worth doing. I had an hour to kill one day and took the plunge through the metal detector and did a little exploring.

The Roses of Filoli

Filoli Gardens is perhaps the most spectacular garden in the Bay Area. The garden is on an old converted estate in Woodside.

Firebug

This photo is of friends sitting around a large campfire out in the countryside in Chianti after many bottles of wine.
