I’ve also had drobo units fail, and lost *everything* on *every* drive – like you say they need to be part of a backup solution, not the solution itself.

I’m sitting here with a couple of Drobos on my desk, too. I just love having all that storage and the peace of mind that my data is safe. I’ve been considering a backup plan while traveling or on location and the Mini seems like a pretty good solution.
