I have to agree to some extent with @gregorlylent. I was active with FF for some time, but found that if you didn’t agree with a specific mentality or crowd, you were quickly on the outside. It can be a fun ride if you find active users of similar mindset, but even with a shared love of photography I found myself just not fitting in to the social side of FF.

if you are any kind of original thinker, outlier, fresh vision visionary, the relentless mediocrity and group think of the commenters on friend will wear you down ..

use it to read, ok, but forget the community, it is all about stroking each other, or hammering down the nail that sticks up ..

waste of time for an original mind

you make several valid points. valid enough that i re-signed up for FF after walking away from it in December.

i do wish, however, that FF or a code savvy user would develop a mobile app for Blackberry users.

apps like Twitter and FF are especially useful when killing time on public transportation.

Definitely agree with #2 and #3. For #3, I dare say I use FF exclusively for that now, it’s much simpler and a lot more fun too. Excellent post, FF fairly sells itself on it’s awesome featureset

It was a post just like this you did awhile back that got me on FriendFeed. Great post TH and I hope you get some of those photogs on to FriendFeed!
