Wordles Comparing Recent Speeches by Barack Obama and John McCain
I went to the site Real Clear Politics where they collect transcripts of political speeches. I took the last speech they had transcribed by Barack Obama and the last speech they had transcribed from John McCain and pasted both speeches into separate Wordles.
The above image is what came out. The top wordle comes from Barack Obama’s recent Townhall speech in Elkhart, Indiana. The bottom wordle comes from John McCain’s speech in Jackson, Ohio.

What does this have to do with photography? Can you leave off the politics?
Haha, if you notice the title of the blog “Thomas Hawk’s Digital Connection”. He can blog about whatever he wants!
Please, Thomas, keep posting things like this. This is a technology blog that leans towards photography, not a photography only blog. Unless I am mistaken, nowhere do I see “VOTE FOR OBAMA” in giant letters. All that I see is a simple observation. This is far more informative than CNN, Fox News or any other news agency, and it doesn’t even offer any opinion.
Keep up the good work Thomas.
What a great idea, Thomas. It’s a way to use Wordle I wouldn’t have thought of.
Did you intentionally use a black background for Obama and a white one for McCain?
Ben, I did not intentionally use a black background for Obama or a white background for McCain. This was simply the random way that Wordle returned the word clouds.
neat idea.. how did you do it?
Very cool, thanks for the share.
