What do you use the 1.4x extender with if EF 70-200 f/4 is not always in your bag?

Not for the wide-angle zoom, i guess...

I am really enjoying 70-200 f/4 (non-IS version, I am afraid) now but have not used it with an extender yet.

Thanks for posting that, very interesting. I'm a little surprised you only carry one memory card though. I'm currently using an Extreme 2 4GB in my 30D, but after having my previous card die, I now carry a couple of smaller cards in my bag, just in case. Just curious, have you ever experienced a CF card failure?

thomas - you may already have shared this information, but which software package do you use to process your pictures on your mac book pro? do you use aperture or lightroom? I'm finally ready to invest in some decent software, but want to get you take before spending the cash. thanks!

One of the problems that I've found with most camera stores is that they're mostly overpriced, and that the staff is generally ignorant about photography. I've been going to a couple of different mom-and-pop camera stores with people that are actually pros (mostly portraiture) and sell the equipment and supplies on the side to make extra coin.

I do love Costco, though. It's the cheapest place that I know of to buy media, and their in-house labs don't do too bad of a job on film when I need a quick set of prints from a disposable evidence camera.

If you're worried about not having a camera, think about a pocket-sized point-and-shoot digital. Some of them are actually pretty good for the price, and have high resolutions and manual controls.

This was a great post! While trying to imrpove my own work, it's great to see what the photographer's who's work I aspire to use and do.

If you'd be willing to share, I'd love to hear about your processing techniques. What do you look for, what do you do/not do, etc.

Thanks!
Irwin
