Sorry Jeff, but the problem isn't my TV set it's my eyes. I've been color blind since birth and don't recognize Purple as an official color. Basically if it takes more then five letters to spell it's not a real color. There is no such thing as Magenta, Maroon or Purple in my book. The only exception to this rule might be Yellow, but I like to think of this as Gold.

Yahoo! actually hosts the World Cup website for FIFA. If you go to fifa.com and click on the Germany 2006 link, you'll be taken to fifaworldcup.yahoo.com. So it may not be extra real dollars being spent for that placement, but likely includes some barter for the design, maintenance, and hosting of the site. Knowing Yahoo!'s advertising background, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some deeper relationship with FIFA over ads, especially on the website. You better believe someone at Yahoo! negotiated for the corner placement as part of the "Official Partner" status. Oh, by the way, Yahoo!'s signage is in their corporate color, purple, not blue. You might want to get the color calibrated on your set!

Hey,
I'm Adelynne, a random browser, and I've gotta comment on this post after just browsing through your blog and photos :) I must say this first, though: your pictures are gorgeous. Keep up the good work!

My favourite teams are the Czech Republic, Korea, Brazil and Spain :D. I hope to see upsets by the Czechs and Koreans! I'm so caught up by the World Cup that my sleep pattern is disrupted :P But I'm enjoying myself a lot.

To echo Irene Done - interesting point about corner placement. I never realised it until you pointed it out.

Just gotta love football! :D

Interesting point about corner placement. I can't help but contrast that with ads behind homeplate during baseball games (ads which I find distracting). Maybe if they were static instead of rotating, and better designed, the baseball ads would have a more positive association for me.

Try as I have, I can never catch World Cup fever. However, Shaka Hislop may be my new all-time favorite sports hero.

Hello Eli! You always do like to ask the tough questions. My #1 favorite team is probably Korea because their inspirational run four years ago is part of why I like soccer so much today, but I'd love to see Mexico win it all too. The great part about the World Cup though is that you always find favorites along the way.
