[...] Thomas Hawk makes a good point about Flickr image search being way better than that from Google or Yahoo! Does Middle America know to go to Flickr and do a search for birthdaycake and then to change the view to sort by interestingness to get some kick ass photos of birthday cakes for the homemade card that you are going to make for Aunt Betty? (beachycat, that’s a kick ass photo of those candles). Of course not. But they do know to go to Yahoo! image search and type in Birthday Cake and find an image. And they do know that if all of the photos of Birthday cakes on Yahoo Image Search suck (which they all do by the way) that they can go to Google Image Search and search for birthday cakes there (and they still suck).
Very illuminating post as always thomas, very very!! Leave 53,561 or whatever it is, I think even 1231 maters if that is what you start with it. If you impress those 1234 or atleast a significant portion of it, then you are on your way to glory.

If I'm correct, Flickr, Del.icio.us, Wordpress and even Google started with numbers not crossing 3 Digits. There was no blogosphere or digg then/

And for a change you are one blogger blogger who's got rid of image verifications.. Kudos.

I like the idea of a photo sharing and sales system. If you'd like to consult with us and help build what you envisage, please drop me a line.

Version 3.0 of Faces.com is nearly complete and we are building sales and pro features into it [plus fixing many UI problems].
