San Francisco Flickr Photography Show Needs a New Home

Connectable Dots Flickr photography show evicted without notice! Bad news from Flickr user Gail Williams. Last week you read here about a Flickr art showing featuring some of the top local San Francisco based Flickr artists that was supposed to run through the end of May.

Unfortunately after Friday night’s opening the artists have learned that their venue Oxygen Sushi has decided to close down. Yes, that’s right, zero notice — the first day of their show turns out to be the last day of their show.

This is very unfortunate and seems sleazy to me given that the owner of the cafe certainly knew that he was going to be closing down but chose not to tell the artists who worked hard to build this show, instead leading them to believe that they would be showing their work there through the end of May.

Which brings us to our point. If you have space for this show, or know someone who does, and would like to have some super great art up at your establishment during the month of May feel free to contact Gail Williams.

I’m in Alaska and don’t know anything about Oxygen Sushi, but I do know this: most businesses that go out of business find out they’re going out of business the day it happens. An establishment can stagger along just barely making it for years. They something comes along, perhaps the county sheriff with a warrant, and that’s it.
