I don’t understand what the title means. I would appreciate it if someone could clue me in.

Same here, nothalo. I’m not getting it.

It’s actually a line from Elvis Costello’s song “I Want You.” Frequently I find that the best photos for me involve tiny little details. Little things not seen when originally taking a shot. Trying to find those details while shooting can be hard, sometimes impossible and yet it’s little things like this that can make a photo for me. Things that can turn it from a photo to a labor of love. To break my heart.

Notice the trash on the ground in this photo. I love that. An unseen detail originally.

The title also is more personal for me on a different level though. I empathize with Costello’s thought. The details that some find stupid, the little things in life frequently move me — mornings, the smell of coffe or breakfast or the crispness of air as you walk down a street in New York are simply amazing heartfelt moments for me. It is those little details that make it mean so much more. The twist of a head, a glint in the eye just before a warm engaging smile, the scent of a woman, so many little things in life can mean so much.

    More from the song:

” It’s the stupid details that my heart is breaking for
It’s the way your shoulders shake and what they’re shaking for
it’s knowing that he knows you now after only guessing
    I want you.”
