TiVoToGo Copy Protection Weak?

TiVoToGo Copy Protection Weak? Chris Lanier is out with a post from PVR Blog today regarding TiVoToGo’s copy protection and what appears to be a hack to disable it. Personally I think this is a terrific thing. Although one can speculate if TiVo knew about this hack and secretly is pleased about it, the bottom line is that there is a workaround.

Personally, I think all the password protection, DRM, copy restriction, etc. with TiVoToGo is ludicrious. I also still can’t see what the big deal about TiVoToGo really is. I’ve been doing the same thing unfettered with no password or DRM with my Media Center PC since October of 2002.

Why is it a big deal? Media Centers cost what, over 800 dollars? DVD Recorders cost what, over 500 dollars? TIVO2GO lets you transfer content and burn the content on your dvd burner by just buying a standalone Tivo for 80 bucks after rebates. Thats why its a big deal, its cheap and effective.
