Steve Vamos, Microsoft Australia’s Managing Director, has been Smoking Crack Again

Slashdot | Microsoft Says Firefox Not a Threat to IE Dude. IE is “no less secure than any other browser and doesn’t lack any important features?!?” Hello Mcfly! At least you admit you’ve never installed or used Firefox. Nice way to make a public ass out of yourself.

Hey in defence of Steve, I KNOW Steve Vamos. The ‘dude’ has over 25 years in Sr. positions with companies like Apple, IBM, and Microsoft and I cant remember ever seeing him smoke crack (or other things for that matter).

I understand you are trying to make a point, but dont drag a good person’s good reputation thru the mud without first contacting him.

Its easy to contact him for comment – just go to the Microsoft.com.au web site and look up his name.

By the way, I’m NOT a Microsoft employee or even Australian.

Troy, perhaps I used excessive literary license here. Certainly no one really believes that this guy smokes crack. It’s a figure of speech. The point is that at the time to publicly state that IE is no less secure than Firefox when we were being bombarded with spyware unmercifully through IE at the time is just not smart. In hindsight and given the success of Firefox I think this especially rings true.

I don’t mean to belittle the guy personally and I don’t even know him but it just seemed like the wrong thing for him to say.
